First Nation’s Vision Quest
"Spend Some Time Alone To Reconnect With Your Life’s Direction"
PHILOSOPHY BEHIND -USA AND CANADA'S-FIRST NATION’S VISION QUEST
In solitude can one find himself, seek his purpose and discover the reason for his being. For it is only when the outer world keeps its calm, the inner world starts to enlighten the mind.
WHY AND HOW 'FIRST NATION’S VISION QUEST'?
It is an age old tradition followed in Native American cultures that when young boys reach the age of adolescence, standing at the threshold of adulthood, they are sent on a quest to discover their inner selves. Also known as the Rights of Passage, the young boys seek their purpose of existence and ask the spirits to guide them on the way they should proceed with their lives.
Supported by the elders of the society, a sacred nature site is chosen and the young lads are sent there for a few days to live on their own, connect with mother nature and request the spirits of their ancestors to guide them and enlighten them on the purpose of their lives and the reasons for their existence. The boys fast for four days and it is believed that the spirits visit them in dreams and by way of natural symbolism like animals or forces of nature, guide them as to how they can serve their communities.
IMPLEMENTATION OF 'FIRST NATION’S VISION QUEST' IN OUR DAILY LIFE
Let Your ‘Big Self’ Do The Talking
Tired and don’t know where to go? Well, let your inner voice, your deepest voice do the talking. Let it guide you on your quest. We all need that therapy when we go to a secluded place, all alone, maybe for a camping trip and sit in silence, in meditation and let our inner voice tell us where to go and how to reach there. For to discover the purpose of existence and the role that one has to fulfill in their lifetime, is as important as food or sleep.
